In coaching processes, the parent is always the expert on his/her life and family and always knows best what is best for him/her.

As a coach, I support, listen, inspire, encourage, guide and offer practical tips for different parenting situations. It is up to the parent to instil and implement those of my tips that fit their family’s daily life and their way of parenting.

As a coach, I have used my understanding of the human mind through my psychology studies, my work experience working with families, my own parenting experience, and my studies in education, social work, and solution-focused coaching to create my coaching. In the coaching sessions, we focus on developing a parent’s self-awareness and bringing to light the impact of our own beliefs on parenting.

The parenting coaching process emphasises the parent’s own motivation for change. The aim of the coaching process is that the parent will be able to manage his/her own life, cope as a parent with the pressures of self, children and community, take care of him/herself and cope independently in different parenting situations after the coaching.

Making parenting more positive is challenging if the parent’s own internal motivation is not involved in the process of change, which is why in my coaching sessions I expect the motivation of the participants to be already in place. The parent must have the desire to change, because there is no specific section in the coaching designed to stimulate motivation. Ready motivation is part of the effectiveness of the coaching.

In parenting coaching, I use the same pedagogical orientations that professional educators use in early childhood education and in the school environment to raise children. The parenting style of the day, or socio-pedagogical orientation, is interactive rather than external instructions and assistance.

The interactive parenting style is very different from the top-down, authoritarian parenting style that we as parents ourselves have received in our childhood. I feel that it is important for parents to learn how to meet their children interactively so that there is not too great a gap between parents and children based on different communication styles. Most of the challenges that families and parenting face are caused by this gap.

Interactive encounters support, among other things, the parent’s ability to make independent decisions, the healthy development of self-esteem and the experience of being seen and heard.

The interactive approach also supports the parent to look at their own needs and encourages them to ask for help because it is available and belongs to each parent, not because they cannot cope alone.

“The interactive approach aims to work together. The aim of the work is to provide parents with the ability to use their own resources to plan their lives, solve problems and manage and understand their emotions.”

– On the wind – coaching Tuulia

Through discussion and tasks, the interactive approach provides an opportunity to discover the parent’s own resources and to look for experiences from the past that the parent can use as an experiential advantage in the future, rather than past life experiences that, for example, slow the parent down.

Interactive work is a therapeutic approach to parent guidance. The therapeutic approach does not mean that the coach has to be trained as a therapist, but the way of working is similar to that of a therapist because it emphasises an interactive and listening approach.

Listening and respecting the parent requires the coach to be willing to delve into the other person’s world, and that is very much what the Windride coaching approach is all about. This approach requires a special ability and interest in solving parenting problems.

The use of a quality interactive approach requires the coach to have self-awareness, life experience, genuine interest and understanding of humanity and diversity. The coach needs to understand the primitive, learned and genetic roots that guide human behaviour in the daily activities of parenting, so that the coach can use effective tools and methods to support the individual developmental process of the parent.

The aim of guiding a goal-oriented coaching process is to ensure that you, as a parent, first succeed in creating lasting external changes through internal changes, both in thinking and in action.

[34

post-2764","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog
["GET
