Saara is a nurse by training and is currently studying to become a psychotherapist in cognitive behavioural therapy at the University of Tampere. She has more than 13 years of experience working in psychiatric special care and child protection foster care. Saara is used to working with children, young people and families in challenging and complex life situations. Her working style is calm, structured and safety-building. Saara’s working style is warm, present and goal-oriented. It is important to her that the client feels genuinely heard and understood. Her work combines confidential encounters and an active, forward-looking approach. She uses the framework of cognitive behavioural therapy in her work, as appropriate. The work involves examining everyday situations, thoughts, emotions and patterns of behaviour and their connections to each other. The aim is to increase understanding of one’s own functioning and to find ways to strengthen everyday management. Saara’s work supports in particular emotion regulation, load management and the building of safe and functional ways of functioning. The work is always adapted to the client’s situation and needs.
